An Innovative Tool for Social Studies in the New Normal

The mobile game application shall be utilized by AP teachers as a supplementary tool in teaching the subject. By integrating the immersive, challenge and reward aspect of a game, the students will be learning the AP subject in a fun and enjoyable approach. Students can also play and learn during or out school hours, and even with an intermittent internet connection. Thus, addressing some of the challenges encountered during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, having and utilizing a locally developed game will promote and attract the students into game development at an early age. Hence, supporting the goals of the DOST to inspire new breed of game developers from all over the country and drive Philippines into the league of top providers of game developers in the world.


Challenging Game Modes!!!

The mobile game is intended to help learners feel immersed and engaged while playing the game, as well as to inspire them to continue playing and overcoming the obstacles of each game level. There are three game categories namely Quiz game, Analogy game, and Association Game. The game preferences of the students, as well as the levels of assessment in the K-12 curriculum were considered.


A Digitalized Story of the Past

The Historya is not only a supplementary tool in teaching Araling Panlipunan, but also a digital story teller that shows significant events through the story boards. The different level shows history from the World’s Firsts Civilizations, the Classical and Transitional Periods, the New World, and even to the First and Second World Wars.
With the story board integrated in each game category, learners will be able to understand what happened in these eras. This kind of gamified learning supports online teaching which is relevant and useful addition to the other learning materials and method.


Game Modes

Quiz

The Quiz game consists of multiple-choice questions that aims to assess the student’s knowledge, and when the player properly answers the question, a trivia connected with the answer, is presented.

The Analogy Game allows the player to study how the photos are connected and choose the best word to describe the four photos that aims to assess the student’s understanding.
